Meghan Caine
CAEA
Meghan Caine, originally from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, is a versatile interdisciplinary performer, musician and creator. Dancing and playing the piano from a young age, her love for performing and curious nature has led her to explore many artistic avenues.
She is a graduate of the Sheridan Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance Program where she received the Triple Threat Award, four years consecutively. During her time at Sheridan, she participated in the third year internship which included travelling to Shang-Hai as part of a musical theatre exchange. This exchange cemented in her the truth of art’s ability to bridge gaps between people no matter how big.
Since graduating she has worked as a performer, choreographer, dance captain, music director, and educator. This range has led her to perform in a vast variety of settings from the stage, Mary Poppins (Thousand Islands Playhouse), to arenas Canadian Tire’s Celebration of a Century (Birch River Productions), to the intimate setting of long term care and other care facilities (Smile Theatre). It was in this latter setting that she witnessed the music’s ability to time travel.
A multi-instrumentalist, Meghan first trained in piano (RCM Gr.8). She also plays clarinet, cajon, guitar, and ukulele. She has played in numerous cabarets and shows including the first ChickJam (Garner Theatre Productions).
With a joy for collaborating, Meghan relishes in the development of new works and has had the delight of being apart of multiple projects such as Guildwood (Next Stage Fringe Festival), A Tale of Future Times (Hamilton Fringe), My Bonnie Lass (CMTP).
Fervent to continue her training, Meghan has learned from and worked with choreographers who have greatly impacted her such as Apolonia Vasquez, Linda Garneau, Stephanie Graham and Allison Plamondon. She is currently participating in the Canadian Guild of Directors and Choreographers’s Assistant and Associate Program.
Leading her artistic practice with compassion, consistency, and curiosity, Meghan is a dynamic performer who wears her heart on her sleeve.
