Abisha Ragu is a dynamic and versatile dancer based in Toronto, Ontario, celebrated for her high-energy performances and deep cultural roots in South Indian and Tamil folk dance. With experience spanning television, live concerts, festivals, and competitive stages, Abisha has become a prominent presence in Toronto’s South Asian dance scene.
Abisha’s journey began with Kuthu—a vibrant South Indian/Pan-Tamil folk style—which she honed through years of training and performing with acclaimed crews Gaana Squad and Moveason3. Her versatility extends beyond folk traditions into Hip-Hop, Popping, Locking, House, and Breaking, training under Andrew “Pyro” Chung and Mariano “Glizzi” Abarca at Footnotes Academy as well as Bollywood, training at Shadow Entertainment.
Her performance credits include major stages such as the UHN Diwali Gala, Bollywood Monster Mashup Music Festival, CCYAA Youth Jam, and Netflix’s Never Have I Ever Toronto premiere. She has shared the stage with international music icons, performing in concerts for Yuvan Shankar Raja and Anirudh Ravichander. On screen, Abisha appeared as a dancer and assistant choreographer for Gaana Squad on Canada’s Got Talent (City TV, 2021) and in music videos such as “Thozhiye” by Sahi Siva.
Beyond performance, Abisha’s choreography has made its mark on competitive stages, leading York Huskies to victory at Choreo Clash 2024 and captaining Moveason3 at Prelude 2025. Her talent and leadership were recognized in 2022 with the Tamil Civic Action: 30 Under 30 award.
Abisha remains deeply connected to her cultural and artistic community, using dance as a bridge between tradition and contemporary expression. Whether on stage, on screen, or in the studio, her work reflects a commitment to excellence, cultural pride, and the joy of movement. Driven by a passion for continuous growth, Abisha is committed to expanding her career as a dancer, choreographer, and aspiring actress.
