Before immigrating to Canada in 2004, Tamami worked for many years as a display designer, bringing interest and joy to people and providing benefits to her clients.
After immigrating to Canada in 2004, she designed and created bags from antiques, kimonos, and other materials for 20 years, during which time over 3,000 pieces have been sent all over the world.
In 2013, she became interested in color and began studying abstract painting, holding solo exhibitions in Japan and Toronto.
In 2018, at the age of 60, she developed a deep interest in street dance and began studying it.
She feels that no matter where she is in life, she is always drawn to something, interested in it, and creating opportunities to start learning.
She participates in many events, including dance battles, and has built connections with dancers in Toronto, Montreal, and other cities worldwide. She also provides a great deal of support to many young dancers from Japan, and is loved as the mother in Toronto. She has been called a “pure, fresh, funky dancer” and is now connecting with many of the world’s top street dancers, deepening her relationships with them.
Her experience in the July 2025 commercial for Rogers Communications. She felt grateful for the opportunity to work in an environment full of professionals, and it was an opportunity to feel a new world in her life.
There are many things she is not good at, but rather than coming to the conclusion that she can or can’t do it because of her age, she wants to be the person who makes the effort. She wants to continue learning about the things she likes with a deep love.
