Isla Horner

Non-Union

Isla Horner is a dynamic young artist whose love for performance shines in every role she embraces. She trains in all genres of dance at Shelley Shearer School of Dance in Winnipeg and has earned numerous judges’ award for her solos, including Made for the Stage, Confidence, Breaking the Wall, and Story Telling.

In summer 2024, Isla made her theatrical debut as Jane Banks in Rainbow Stage’s production of Mary Poppins, directed by Alexandra Herzog and choreographed by Josh Assor. This was a dream role that affirmed Isla’s belief that with hard work, ‘anything can happen, if you let it’. Soon after, Isla was cast as the orphan July in Annie at the Stratford Festival, relocating with her family to Ontario for the run 11-month run. Under the direction of Donna Feore, the production’s record-breaking 126 performances offered Isla invaluable growth, world-class training, and the thrill of working alongside an inspiring cast and creative team.

This experience deepened Isla’s commitment to a life in the performing arts and was transformative both personally and professionally. Isla’s love for performing extends beyond the stage, having studied voice with Joy Lazo for several years and winning an award at the Kanta Na! singing competition. In Ontario, Isla was very fortunate to have had the privilege of collaborating with exceptional mentors, refining her skills with Breanna Willis (dance), Joe Peretz (acro) and Robert Markus (voice). Isla is continuing her development and pursuing a passion for acting on and off the stage, training in voice acting at Hamilton Festival and on-camera work at Hamont Acting Studio.

When she’s not performing, Isla loves filling her days with creativity and fun—tumbling around the house, decorating, spending time with friends, and teaching her dogs new tricks. She continues to grow as an artist by training, attending conventions and master classes and looks forward to competing in regional and national dance competitions as well as the Winnipeg Music Festival. Supported by her family and mentors, Isla approaches every opportunity with joy, focus, and determination to reach her full potential.
