Taya Vliek

Taya Vliek (she/her) was born and raised in Kelowna, British Columbia, before her passion took her to Ontario. She grew up in an arts school learning acting techniques as well as performative qualities at the age of five, while being a multidisciplinary dancer and acrobat. Through training, she has gained a tremendous amount of experience in a variety of fields including; jazz, ballet, contemporary, jazz funk, lyrical, modern, and hip hop. Growing up in the circus world, Taya has also trained extensively in hand balancing, aerial work, partnering, flexibility, and tumbling. 

In order to pursue her dream of becoming a professional dancer and actor, Taya moved across the country at age 14 to train at the world-renowned École Nationale de Cirque, where she trained over six hours a day learning every discipline; that experience helped shape the versatility that Taya possesses. Taya’s passion only continued to grow as she took the opportunity to move to New Brunswick where she trained at the Atlantic Ballet of Canada and honed her skillset in pointe, variations, classical ballet, and modern techniques, with over 20 hours of ballet a week. In addition to the time Taya spent at both schools, Taya studied performance and film at the Capitol Theatre and she traveled internationally and competed with her self-choreographed solos, which resulted in winning the title of World Champion on three separate occasions; once in Slovenia and twice in Mexico. 

Taya booked her first professional job without any representation just months after graduating high school, working with director Sri Rao, and choreographer Heather Laura Gray. She has had the opportunity to work with numerous choreographers including, but not limited to; Jenna Johnson, Val Chmerkovskiy, Molly Long, Jordan Clark, and Kirsten Russel!. Taya has won countless awards including Senior Top 10 at the Dance Awards and Miss View Dance 2025. She has received numerous scholarships, including, the Joffery Ballet Schoofs jazz and contemporary program, Intrepid Dance Company training program, and countless scholarships to conventions like, Jump, NUVO, and 24 Seven. 

Taya is a dedicated and passionate artist who is always finding new ways to learn, grow and develop whether that’s with acting, dance or acrobatics. Aside from performing, Taya loves to choreograph, teach and assist at conventions helping share her motivation with other artists. Taya Vlieks commitment, drive and passion are the attributes that set her apart from others in the industry and are the main reasons for her past and future success.
