Maya most recently starred as Coley in Hayley Kiyoko’s Girls Like Girls (Focus Features), the acclaimed coming-of-age romance produced by Marc Platt. Adapted from Kiyoko’s bestselling novel and inspired by her iconic 2015 song, the film tells the universal story of first love, grief, and self-acceptance. Following its theatrical release, Girls Like Girls earned widespread praise for its heartfelt storytelling, striking visual style, and emotionally authentic performances, with critics calling it “bracingly personal and finely acted,” “beautifully shot and tenderly acted,” and “a gently moving tale of queer love.” Maya’s nuanced performance as Coley was repeatedly singled out as one of the film’s greatest strengths, with Variety praising her “wonderful performance” and critics highlighting her emotional depth and authenticity. The film also stars Myra Molloy, Levon Hawke, and Zach Braff.
Next, Maya will star in the upcoming highly anticipated installment of the iconic Paranormal Activity franchise from Paramount Pictures, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster. Directed by Ian Tuason, the latest chapter in the blockbuster found-footage horror series co-stars Chase Yi and Sonia Mena. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on May 21, 2027. Prior to her upcoming film projects, Maya garnered recognition for a recurring role in the critically acclaimed Hulu limited series Under the Bridge (2024). Created by Quinn Shephard, the show follows the murder of Reena Virk, with Maya portraying one of the teens at the centre of the case opposite Academy Award nominee Lily Gladstone, Riley Keough, and Vritika Gupta. Additional credits include Descendants: Wicked Wonderland (Disney) and Avatar: The Last Airbender (Netflix).
Maya is of Portuguese and Vietnamese descent and began her acting training at age 12 at McIlroy & Associates with Beatrice King, later continuing at Tricities Film Studio under Lisa Durupt.
