Taylor Long

Non Union

Taylor Long (he/him) is an award-winning actor, born and raised in Halifax, NS. He had a unique upbringing, born missing his fibula bone in both legs which led to both of his feet being amputated before he was two years old. Taylor learned to walk, run, dance, and ride horses on two below-the-knee prosthetics. Before discovering a passion for acting, Taylor was a competitive horseback rider, studying dressage and show-jumping for a decade and competing internationally.

He discovered his love for singing and acting at Neptune Theatre’s youth company, performing Marius in their production of Les Misérables. After high school, Taylor studied opera at Dalhousie University and performed in a variety of musicals on the east coast.

Taylor took a short break from acting when he moved to Toronto in 2017, working as a theatre critic and building up a photography and videography business. He’s been lucky to have fellow amputee and director/choreographer David Connolly as a friend and role model, and the pair created and performed in an annual fundraiser cabaret titled Both, from 2017-2019.

Taylor began performing again in August 2023 with Shifting Ground Collective’s Ordinary Days. Since then he’s been seen in Parade (Wavestage Theatre), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Doctor Bird Productions), Falsettos (Bowtie Productions), and Cabaret (Horrorshow Productions). He also performed with songwriter Scott Alan in Scott Alan & Friends at Meridian Arts Centre in November 2024.

For his work in Falsettos, Taylor recently won the 2024 BroadwayWorld Toronto award for Best Performer in a Musical (Non-Professional) and was nominated for Outstanding Performance in a Musical for the My Entertainment World 2024 Critics’ Pick Awards, with My Entertainment World adding, “Taylor Long has quickly become one of the most recognizable faces in Toronto’s thriving indie musical theatre scene.”

In television and film, Taylor has appeared in Jay Dahl’s Halloween Party, on the hit Canadian comedy, Mr. D, and he was the subject of a documentary for Shriners’ Hospitals for Children titled Heroes Among Us. Taylor is thrilled to be getting back in front of the camera, and is grateful to be part of the da Costa family.
