Ben Tobar
Non Union
Ben Tobar (He/Him) is an actor originally from Santiago, Chile, now based in Toronto, Ontario. His passion for the performing arts began around the age of eight, when his biggest dream was to become a clown and run a family circus. He would recruit his family and put on shows alongside his sister, creating performances simply because he loved to dream and make them a reality.
That spirit of dreaming big has stayed with Ben throughout his life. At 15, he had an undeniable feeling that he wanted to become an actor. Although he didn’t fully understand what that meant at the time, he knew it was something he had to pursue. With the encouragement of his family, Ben took a leap of faith and moved abroad to Vancouver, BC, where he completed a two-year Acting Conservatory program.
Throughout his training, Ben developed a strong foundation in scene study, text analysis, theatre, on-camera acting, voice and speech, movement, improvisation, voice-over, action for actors, and on-camera audition technique. His work has included both film and theatre, with lead and supporting roles in several short films, as well as theatrical productions including Dog Sees
God, Love/Sick, and The Diary of Anne Frank.
For Ben, acting has always been about more than simply performing. His training and experiences have pushed him to become more curious, vulnerable, and connected to himself, qualities he brings into every character he takes on. He approaches his work with an open heart, honesty, and authenticity, always looking for the human truth within a story.
A lifelong dreamer, Ben is now entering a new chapter in Toronto with the same sense of curiosity and determination that first led him to dream of performing as a child. He believes that dreaming is only the beginning—he wants to be a creator, tell meaningful stories, and continue growing through every character and opportunity that comes his way.
