Bryony Faye Fowler
ACTRA
Bryony Faye Fowler is a quadruple threat: actor, singer/musician, dancer, and tumbler/acrobat! Originally from Newfoundland, her parents moved her and her younger brothers to Toronto to pursue their dreams of performing. One of Bryony’s dreams came true last year, when she was accepted into the highly competitive École Nationale de Cirque/National Circus School full-time cirque-academic high school program in Montreal.
Bryony has been performing since the age of five, and landed her first professional role (Gretl in The Sound of Music) at six years old. Since then, she’s been gaining professional experience in TV, theatre, circus, dance, and musical theatre. Bryony is continuously commended for her incomparable work ethic and maturity in her work, and she takes much pride in always giving her best, but never being afraid to try. She loves to live by the motto, “Practice Makes Progress”.
The day after arriving in Toronto following a move from Newfoundland, an opportunity came knocking from home, when Bryony found out she had landed the role of Paula Fleming in Son of a Critch (CBC). Some of her other TV/film credits include: Young Myrna in A Christmas Fury (CBC); Vanessa in Lovely Mummers (Rendering Glint Films), and Molly in Shattered Mind’s Eye (Happy Days Productions); Hope in Spare Parts (Catching Amistad), and varied commercial experience. After seeing Matilda, The Musical twice on Broadway, Bryony’s musical theatre dream came true when she landed the title role of Matilda at age nine! Bryony spent this past spring in Halifax dancing, singing, and acting in Neptune Theatre’s Billy Elliot, where she also had the honour of performing with her brother, Lennox who played the titular role. She also joined the Dora-nominated ensemble cast of Bluebeard’s Castle with Against The Grain Theatre (role of Meadow). Bryony played the role of Gretl in The Sound of Music, not once but twice, and played the lead role of Hercules, the acrobatic monkey, in both the main stage and touring versions of the circus show: The Best Medicine Show (Wonderbolt Circus).
Bryony currently trains full time at National Circus School, and previous training includes: Canada’s National Ballet School Summer Intensive; ALDC LA under Abby Lee Miller and Gianna Martello; Canadian Dance Company Teen Competitive Company; LeBlanc School of Acting; Competitive Women’s Artistic Gymnastics with Cygnus Gymnastics; One Song Glory with Musical Stage Co.; Radar Technique workshops and classes with Rebecca Davies; Ctrl Acrobatics; Northern Move Acrobatics: Private voice, piano, contortion, hand balance, guitar & ukulele lessons; Along with being artistic, Bryony is very athletic and excels in track and field/cross country. She is also a model student, and earned The Student of Excellence Award in her last year of middle school.
During downtime from training and academics, Bryony loves to crochet, craft, read, and FaceTime with her family. She also enjoys watching TV and musicals (favourite show: Brooklyn 99; favourite musical: Hamilton). Bryony’s love of the arts is rooted in her family, who are all artists, and she is appreciative for the support and guidance she receives. She is very thankful and enthusiastic to be joining the da Costa family, with her two brothers in tow!
