Shriya Chamarty
Non-Union
Shriya Chamarty (shree-yuh; she/her) is a Vancouver-based performer born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. While many performers follow a traditional path into the arts, Shriya’s journey took an unexpected detour. Fascinated by both art and the natural world, she pursued a career as an environmental biologist, conducting wildlife surveys, restoring habitats, and exploring some of British Columbia’s most remote and beautiful landscapes. Yet no matter where life took her, performance remained a constant source of creativity, connection, and purpose.
Throughout the years, Shriya has remained actively involved in the Vancouver musical theatre community through training and performances. Highlights include Medusa in
Direct Theatre Company’s MONSTER, Anna in Spring Awakening for Sherwood Theatre, and George in Jack & The Beanstalk for Metro Theatre. Today, she is fully embracing the passion that has been with her all along. She brings over a decade of experience in Western and Indian vocal styles, as well as jazz, lyrical, Kathak, and Bollywood dance to her work. She continues to expand her training as a performer while building her career across the stage and screen.
Known for her warmth, enthusiasm, and appreciation for life’s small details, Shriya is drawn to stories that are honest, complex, and deeply human. When she’s not performing,
she can be found exploring forests, tide pooling along the coast, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, or spending time with her cat, Frank.
