Christopher Lucas
ACTRA, CAEA, UK Equity
Christopher Lucas is a Toronto-based multi-disciplinary artist — actor, director, writer, and musician — whose work bridges classical discipline with contemporary vitality.
As an actor, Christopher has appeared in leading and character roles including Othello (Gladstone Theatre, Prix Rideau-nominated), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Grand Theatre), and most recently Mary Poppins at the Thousand Islands Playhouse. His performances have been described as “first-rate” and “emotionally charged,” with critics praising his rare ability to merge humour, humanity, and precision.
As a director, Christopher helms Real Canaan Theatre, where his production of The Merchant of Venice was hailed for its bold clarity and contemporary resonance, offering a fresh, inclusive lens on Shakespeare’s most controversial play. His directorial style combines symbolic and emotional depth with dramaturgical precision, creating theatre that is both intimate and expansive.
A seasoned musician and bandleader, Lucas brings over 15 years of experience as a music director and pit musician, with credits including Kiss Me Kate, Sister Act, Little Shop of Horrors, Avenue Q, Mamma Mia and more. His interdisciplinary fluency — integrating the sonic, physical, and emotional vocabularies of the stage — enables him to craft productions that resonate with warmth and depth.
As a mixed-race artist of Kenyan and Scottish heritage, and a proud Canadian citizen since 2019, Christopher is committed to inclusive, community-rooted storytelling. His work seeks to create theatre that is urgent and joyful, drawing audiences into spaces of reflection, resilience, and reconciliation. He is thrilled to be joining da Costa Talent under the representation of Cat and the team!
