David Whalen

David G. Whalen is a seasoned professional in the entertainment media industry with over 25 years of experience. Based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, David has extensive expertise in professional network and radio audio production, voice direction for commercials, films, and gaming, as well as leading corporate live event A/V and broadcast planning, operations, and
management. He is known for his visionary approach, consistently driving excellence and innovation.
As a Voice Director and Producer, David has directed, engineered, and produced voiceovers for numerous projects, including IMAX films like “Aircraft Carrier” and “The Trolley,” and commercials for major brands such as Chevrolet and 7-11. At Corus Entertainment, he served as a Senior Network Engineer and Producer, producing and engineering audio content for millions of listeners on Q107 and Edge 102, ensuring high-quality broadcasts.
David’s exceptional performance and dedication have earned him multiple Crystal Awards, including a Gold in 2011 for “Station Promotion Campaign” and a Bronze in 2017 for “We Built This City.” His notable projects include musical placements in high-profile productions such as “The Samaritan” (IFC/eOne) starring Samuel L. Jackson, “CSI: Miami” (Alliance Atlantis), “Between” (Netflix), and “Queer As Folk” (Showtime).
In addition to his work in media production, David has excelled in corporate live event management. As Operations Manager at ENCORE, he oversaw A/V operations at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. As Technical Operations Manager at Big Digital and Paquin Entertainment, he managed A/V technical aspects for immersive art exhibits including Beyond Monet and Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. world tour installations.
David is also committed to supporting the community. He pioneered the music program at Saint Alban’s Boys and Girls Club, providing children with a platform to express themselves creatively through music. His contributions to the Kids Help Phone’s BroTalk program further demonstrate his commitment to uplifting young people.
