Emma Cannon

Non-Union

Emma Cannon (they/them) is a versatile non-binary multidisciplinary performer whose work spans theatre, dance, choreography, and emerging film. With over twenty years of dance experience, they bring a deep understanding of movement, musicality, and physical storytelling to every role. Emma is drawn to the transformative nature of performance—stepping into a character’s world with intention and returning to everyday life with renewed creative perspective, an experience that continues to drive their love for the craft.

A graduate of the St. Clair College Music Theatre Performance Program, Emma earned their advanced diploma while training under a range of respected instructors. Their dance training includes tap with Kristyn Wiklanski, jazz with Kim O’Neill, ballet with Anne Marie Pilon-Gerdun, modern with Anh Nguyen, and commercial styles with Melissa Williams, in addition to years of foundational training growing up in the dance studio and within a dedicated high school dance program. They strengthened their vocal technique with Sara Fontaine, John Karr, and Peggy Dwyer, and further broadened their acting foundation through Meisner technique, scene study, and Shakespeare training with Katherine Kaszas, Laura Quigley and Chad Allen.

Emma’s performance background spans theatre, commercial dance, and choreography. Their theatre credits include ensemble work with Drayton Entertainment in Cinderella: The
Panto, directed by David Connolly, as well as Victoria/Dance Captain in Cats and ensemble/associate choreography roles in Heathers and Soundtrack at St. Clair College. Their dance work extends to professional stages and community projects, including performances and choreography with the Royal Ontario Museum, Capitol Theatre, Water’s Edge, the Windsor Express Dance Team, and HNM Modern Dance Company.

Expanding their range beyond the stage, Emma appeared in the short film Tiny Dancer as Nadia and performed as a featured vocalist in Broadway’s Ben Davis with the Windsor Symphony. Their skill set includes contemporary and modern dance, improvisational movement, partnering, lifts, stunts, and foundational stage combat—supporting their adaptability across mediums.

Emma’s dedication to performing is grounded in an early memory: at four years old, dancing to the song I Just Want to Be Me, singing with fearless honesty. That moment sparked a lasting connection to expression through movement and performance, a drive they continue to honor in every creative space.

Currently expanding their craft through ongoing training and new projects, Emma brings a blend of athleticism, emotional clarity, and collaborative spirit to every stage and set. With their strong movement background and commitment to authentic storytelling, they offer a compelling and dynamic presence within the industry.
