Michel Guimond

Non-Union

Michel Guimond started ballroom dancing in 1969 at the young age of 11 in Laval, Quebec.  He participated in countless ballroom dance competitions and performances all around Quebec, Ontario and North-East USA.   He trained for years and started teaching at the Studio 2720 in Montreal under the direction of Méryem Pearson.

While working at the Studio 2720, Michel dabbled into the world of ballet, jazz and stage performing.  He performed on many Montreal stages – La Place des Arts, Théatre St-Denis, Centre Pierre-de-Coubertin, to name a few.  His first venture into TV commercials was as a choreographer for Les Fourrures Giguère, working with models presenting fur coats. That same year, he choreographed a Loto-Québec commercial as well.

Michel went on to travel all over Canada teaching ballroom dancing to finally root himself in Vancouver, B.C.  He started performing with the Rainy City Gay Men’s Chorus as a singer, dancer and actor and the adventure lasted for a good four years.  He started auditioning for musicals in Vancouver and got his first role in The King and I as a chorus member at the Gateway Theatre in Richmond, B.C., followed by The Secret Garden.  Other credits include Seussical: The Musical (Evergreen Community Centre), Snow White: The Panto (Metro Theatre), and Big, The Musical (Theatre Under The Stars) where he received the Aida Broadband Award for Professional Conduct and Performance.

As a creative, Michel worked as Assistant Choreographer for Brigadoon (Gateway Theatre) under the supervision of Choreographer Suzanne Ouellette, as Director for Louisiana Purchase (Applause Musicals), and as a Soloist at the Sing City 10th Anniversary Showcase at the Stanley Theatre. He has recently been performing for four years with the Broadway Chorus.  Film credits include iZombie (The CW) and The Last Of Us (HBO).
