UBCP/ACTRA | CAEA
Jacob Woike (he/him/they/them) was born on Vancouver Island in the Cowichan Valley and spent the majority of their adolescence involved in the arts and in athletics. They spent multiple summers training with the University of Victoria’s basketball team until auditioning for a community theatre production which pivoted them into voice and acting full-time.
Making their professional debut replacing the lead role in the original Canadian musical Broken Sex Doll, they’ve since continued performing with various regional companies such as The Arts Club Theatre, Stage West Theatre Calgary, Western Canada Theatre, and Patrick Street Productions. In 2019, Jacob joined Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a lead vocalist, performing repertoire ranging from rock, pop, and broadway while sailing the high seas.
Earlier this year, Jacob joined the cast of the Amazon Prime original series, Reginald the Vampire, before working under the direction of Anna Kendrick on the upcoming feature film The Dating Game.
They have studied with some of Canada’s foremost coaches and teachers in voice, body and breathwork. These studies include Shakespeare with David Smukler (Stratford Voice Coach, 9 Seasons), the faculty at the National Voice Intensive, Craig Thompkins, and Ben Immanuel at Haven Studio.
This summer Jacob stars as the lead role of Casey at the Arts Club Theatre Company’s The Legend of Georgia McBride, followed by the lead role of Sam Wheat in Ghost The Musical at the Chemainus Theatre.
When not performing, you can find Jacob traveling or with their friends and family, the source of much joy and support.
