Joe Tuliao

UBCP/ACTRA

Joe Tuliao is a Filipino-Canadian Leo Award-winning choreographer, director, performer, and creative visionary whose work lives at the intersection of movement, storytelling, culture, and film. With a career spanning television, feature film, music, and live performance, Joe is known for creating work that is cinematic, emotionally driven, and deeply rooted in identity.

Joe currently serves as Series Choreographer on Amazon MGM’s ‘Off Campus’ (Season 2), ABC’s ‘Scrubs’ (Season 2), Disney+’s ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ reboot, and Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ (Season 3). Across these productions, Joe works at the forefront of movement for television, developing choreography that supports character, narrative, performance, and world-building.

Joe previously choreographed the acclaimed KPOP fantasy sequence in Lionsgate’s ‘Joy Ride’, directed by Adele Lim. The scene, featuring Ashley Park, Stephanie Hsu, Sherry Cola, and Sabrina Wu, became a standout moment for Asian representation in mainstream film and earned Joe a Leo Award nomination for Best Choreography.

His additional screen credits include RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race, Darren Criss’s SHEIN fashion special, Nickelodeon’s The J Team, and Disney’s Mech-X4, alongside performance credits in Descendants 2 & 3, Freaky Friday, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, and Riverdale.

Beyond individual productions, Joe is committed to building platforms and communities that create space for emerging artists. He is the founder of Illustrative Society and 8 Magazine, and co-producer of the Innovate Dance Film Showcase, which expanded to Toronto in 2026 following its Vancouver roots. Through these platforms, Joe champions the intersection of dance and film while creating opportunities for artists to be seen, supported, and celebrated.

Whether working behind the camera, in the studio, or on stage, Joe approaches every project with the belief that movement can do more than accompany a story—it can reveal character, carry culture, and shape how audiences experience it. His work continues to push the boundaries of dance within entertainment while amplifying underrepresented voices both in front of and behind the camera.
