Joey Herbison

Joey Herbison is a Toronto-based performer, musical director, and arts educator whose work has taken him across Canada and internationally, including New York City, Italy, China, and the Middle East. A 2025 BroadwayWorld Award winner for Best Musical Direction- Jersey Boys, Joey is recognized for his dynamic musical leadership and versatility both on stage and behind the table. 

Upcoming projects include Musical Director, Co-Creator and Arranger of RJ & Joni and performer in Echoes Down the River with the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, as well as Musical Director for Fiddler on the Roof with Tweed & Co. This spring he will act as Musical Director for the Canadian All-Stars team at the Junior Theatre Festival in London, England. 

As a performer, Joey has appeared in a wide range of productions, with favourite credits including Alex in the Canadian premiere of Girl in the Frame, Baloo in Jungle Book Circus (China & UAE tours), Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Brian in Avenue Q, Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods, Masetto in Don Giovanni, William Barfée in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Bobby in Crazy for You. He has also had the privilege of singing backup for Josh Groban and Sarah Brightman. 

Joey holds a degree in Vocal Performance from Western University and furthered his training through the Artist Community Education program at Queen’s University. He is the Co-Owner and Co-Artistic Director of ARTSies Inc., an educational theatre initiative dedicated to empowering young artists across the GTA. In 2025, he Co-Created Find Your Light, which connects and unites young artists across Canada through educational workshops with industry professionals. As a teaching artist, he has worked with leading organizations including the Stratford Festival, Randolph College, and TADA! Youth Theater in Manhattan. 

Joey began his theatrical journey at the age of seven with the former St. Lawrence Stage Company, where a vibrant community of emerging artists first inspired his passion for the craft. He remains committed to developing and producing new works and mentoring the next generation of performers and arts advocates.
