Kate Megginson

Kate Megginson is a Toronto-born performer and content creator who loves to live loud. Ever since she discovered plays could have music and dance, she’s been an avid musical theatre performer. She grew up focusing on acting and her vocal technique, while balancing dance classes in styles such as jazz, tap, and various ballroom styles. 

Kate recently graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Theatre from Queen’s University and St. Lawrence College. During her education, she honed her skills in dance, acting and singing, while finding her voice as a comedian. Having trained in Stand-Up comedy by Canada’s Ali Hassan, Kate knows how to work a room and use her improv skills to keep everyone giggling. Kate stood out while pursuing her undergrad as a dedicated and inspired student, who’s always driven to improve. 

While at school, Kate had the honour of tackling many shows in a short time, including Heathers (Heather Chandler), Macbeth (First Witch), and The Prom (Dee Dee Allen)  to name a few. She also got the chance to work with Alexandra Herzog and Evan Builuing in a production of Cabaret during her time at St. Lawrence College. In Toronto, Kate just finished up her run in Andrew Seok’s Almost Ever After at Toronto Fringe. She’s also been nominated for a Broadway World Toronto Award for her portrayal of Conrade in Much Ado About Nothing directed by Isabella Cesari. 

As someone who likes to try everything, Kate’s education is neverending. She was a level 3 (non-tumbling) Competitive Cheerleader and assistant captain of her team, ensuring safety and precision on the squad. Naturally, that transitioned into her fascination with stage combat. After being fight captain for SLC’s production of Cabaret under the fight direction of David Chinchilla, she’s motivated to get more training and eventually certified in stage combat! 

Next for Kate is performing in Shifting Ground Collective’s production of Ride The Cyclone, where on top of her ensemble track, she’s covering 2 principal roles!
