Lennox Blue Powell

ACTRA | CAEA

Originally from small-town Newfoundland, Lennox Blue Powell now attends Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto full time and lives to perform. He is a quadruple threat: a dancer, singer, actor, and tumbler and his charismatic persona wins over audiences and colleagues alike.

Lennox’s diverse influences, personality traits, and skill set make him a standout performer. He’s a focused worker and is continuously praised for his maturity and calm, professional approach to his work. His first solo dance competition performance at age five confirmed that for Lennox, the stage was love at first sight. That love and passion continue to grow, as does his drive to keep improving. Lennox’s performance credits encompass a wide range, from film, to dance, musical theatre, voice work, and commercials.

From the time Lennox had his first role in a musical at age five, (“Small Boy” in Billy Elliot with Atlantic Light Theatre), his dream role was Billy Elliot. That dream came true for him at age eleven, when he was cast in the role in a Canada-wide search, and played the role thirty-four times with Neptune Theatre.

Other theatre roles include Principal Dancer/Featured Performer in the world premiere of I Forgive You (Artistic Fraud, National Arts Centre); Misha/Fritz (lead) in The Nutcracker (National Ballet of Canada); Ensemble in MADDADDAM (National Ballet of Canada); Son in Once, The Musical (Theatre St. John’s); Featured Dancer in Our Divas Do Christmas (TaDa! Events); Ensemble in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Best Kind Productions). Lennox also played lead roles in two short films: Ben in Terry (Dylan Duff); Son in It Just Becomes Your Life (Catching Amistad Productions). He also voiced the character Bob Beigerton in Pinkalicious & Peterrific Special: A Pinkerton Family Vacation (PBS Kids), and has an array of commercial experience.

Currently a student of the Professional Ballet-Academic Program at the National Ballet School, Lennox’s other training includes: Canadian Dance Company Full-Time Competitive Company; Hip Hop classes with Guy Groove; Competitive Men’s Artistic Gymnastics with Cygnus Gymnastics Training Center; Power Tumbling with Manjak’s Gymnastics; LeBlanc School of Acting; Private study in voice piano and acting. Because Lennox is in a full-time ballet program, but also has a passion for musical theatre, he keeps up his tap dance skills through Operation Tap’s online program, featuring choreographers such as Mike Minery and Anthony Morigerato. In his spare time, you will often find Lennox playing video games with his friends (favorites include Super Smash Bros and Fortnite), listening to hip hop music, and watching TV (favorite shows include Walking Dead, The Last of Us, and From).

His favorite movie genre is and always has been horror/thriller. Somehow, at age six, he convinced his mom to “FINALLY” allow him to watch IT on the plane home from Dance World Cup. She assumed he’d get scared and turn it off, but instead, it sparked his love for the genre even more. Lennox is thankful to have an artistic family, who supports his love of performing (as well as his movie and music choices!). He’s very much looking forward to being a da Costa kid and for all the great things to come!
