Mari MacDonald

Non-Union

Mari MacDonald (she/her) is a multidisciplinary performer who began her career performing for harsh critics in her childhood living room. Through thunderous applause they deemed her work “fantastic” (Mom) and “very good” (Dad).

At the age of six, she began performing in her local community theatre and performed in her first professional production at the age of ten. Mari graduated from Randolph College for the Performing Arts in 2019 as a Triple Threat Award nominee. In 2021, Mari received her Master’s Degree in Musical Theatre Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she performed as the titular role in her graduating production of Pippin.

Fueled by a passion for performing and creating theatre, Mari has worked around the city as a triple threat performer in various plays, musicals, concerts, and cabarets. Some of her favourite credits include Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd (Horrorshow Productions), a role which distinguished her as “one to watch in the world of Musical Theatre” (Our Theatre Voice); Little Women (Wren Theatre); When I Grow Up: A Cabaret (Sunbeam Theatre Co); and X:1969 The Musical (Edinburgh Fringe Festival).

Mari is an arts educator with Young People’s Theatre and loves sharing her passion for the performing arts with young artists and audiences. She is the co-founder of West End Performing Arts Company, a workshop-based collective that aims to bring performing arts training to emerging artists in the west end of Toronto.

Mari is an avid The Office quoter, big time napper, and irreparable chocoholic.
