Matt hails from London, Ontario where he discovered dance at Westminster SS. After being competitive in many other sports throughout his childhood, Matt’s natural physical ability and love of the stage allowed him to be seduced by a career in the performing arts.
Matt relocated to Toronto to continue his dance education in the Professional Training Program at the school of Toronto Dance Theatre. Upon graduation after 3 successful years, Matt has been lucky to work with many international artists, some of which include: Peggy Baker, Daryl Tracy, Tino Seghal, Sasha Ivanotchko, Margie Gillis, William Yong, Danny Grossman, Hari Krishnan, Amy Wright, Siona Jackson and others.
Matt performed a lead role in the BravoFACT film titled ‘Unforgotten’ which has won multiple awards at international film festivals. Matt was also excited to have performed in the opening act of the Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) as well as with the Canadian Opera Company in their production of Iphigenia in Tauris. After touring within The USA and Canada with InDance contemporary company and to Colombia in South America with Deviationdance, Matt performed with InDance as a soloist at Canada’s National Dance Festival in Ottawa and had a featured role in a Doc Martins web campaign. Over the past two years he made his film and television debut in a recurring role on Guillermo Del Toro’s new series ‘The Strain’.
Aside from performing, Matt also teaches workshops and choreographs for youth performance groups and high schools throughout Ontario. Matt is also proud to choreograph for Toronto’s rising pop star on the international scene ‘Lexi Tellings’. He is also a founding member/director/choreographer of after-school ‘Glee’ clubs in conjunction with the TDSB.
