Matt Nethersole is a dynamic multi-disciplinary artist, host, producer, and writer. Their artistic journey began with dance, training in jazz, hip-hop, and ballet. From there, they developed a passion for acting and singing, leading them to study at Sheridan College’s esteemed Musical Theatre Performance Program.

As a performer, Matt has graced some of Canada’s most prestigious stages, including repertory seasons with both the Stratford Festival and the Shaw Festival. In Toronto, they’ve worked with acclaimed companies such as Young People’s Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, Buddies in Bad Times, Ross Petty Productions, Starvox Entertainment, Crows Theatre, Musical Stage CoQueer Songbook Orchestra  and Soulpepper. Matt also appeared in the Apple TV Musical series Schmigadoon and as a series lead in season’s one and two of The Moblees on CBC kids.

Beyond performing, Matt thrives behind the scenes as well. Matt has worked as a producer at Crossroads Theatre (formerly Shakespeare in Action) and at TVO. For TVO, Matt co-hosted the live, multi-camera daily youth program That TVO Kids Show and the YouTube infotainment channel KnowBrainers. Matt also took on a pioneering role as co-creator, co-host, co-writer, and co-producer of the original TVO Podcast Queries— a compelling four-part investigative series that examines 2SLGBTQ+ rights in Ontario Catholic schools.

Matt continues to fuse music, performance, communication, and storytelling in their professional pursuits. They are  propelled ever-forward by an unwavering sense of curiosity and an urge to convey the universal truths that connect us all.
