Melissa Mitro

Melissa (she/her) began her dancing career at the age of three, training in a wide range of styles including ballet, hip hop, lyrical, jazz, tap, acrobatics, musical theatre, contemporary, modern, highland, ballroom, and salsa. She was a National Highland Champion and a 3-time winner of JUMP Dance Regionals, as well as 2nd Runner-up at the JUMP Dance Nationals (now known as The Dance Awards) in Los Angeles. Melissa has earned numerous overall awards at major competitions across North America and performed three times at the Dance Teacher Summit in New York.

Professionally, Melissa has danced in music videos and live performances with artists such as Nick Jonas, Pitbull, Nelly Furtado, Chaka Khan, Karol G, Anuel, James Morrison, and Deborah Cox. She was the runner-up on CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance Canada Season 4 and her TV/film credits include Disney’s Descendants 5 (2025), NBC’s Brilliant Minds (2024), Paramount’s Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies (2023), Sneakerella (2022), 13: The Musical (2022), The Voice, Disney’s Zombies 2, Netflix’s Julie and the Phantoms, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (2019, 2022), DC’s Suicide Squad, the Pan-Am Games (Canada and Mexico), and the Swiss production of Art On Ice.

She has also toured extensively across Europe, performing with the renowned Italian salsa company Ansima Production Ballet in Finland, Poland, Spain, Croatia, and throughout Italy. She then joined the 2 time World Latin Dance Cup winning group Omambo Dance Project in Los Angeles where she continued to perform through the U.S and Australia.
