Josh Mendonca

For Calgary born Josh Mendonca (he/him), a passion for the arts has always been a driving force in his life. At the young age of 2, he began training in all styles of dance that his home studio had to offer (jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary) and continued all throughout his high school years. In grade 12, he spent a year training with ILLFX and added hip-hop and commercial styles to his extensive repertoire. After spending a majority of his childhood in the studio, he knew he had to continue his training post high-school and took his talents to Vancouver, BC to train under esteemed director Moe Brody in the Intensive Training Program (ITP) at Harbour Dance Centre. Through this program, he gained knowledgeable insight about the tv and film industry and was provided guidance that would help cultivate the dependable and versatile artist he has now become.

Combining both his studio and industry experience, Josh has proven to be a reliable performer both on screen and stage. His talents have landed him roles in many beloved productions, including, Disney’s Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, Netflix’s Riverdale and Julie & the Phantoms. He also worked closely with the choreography team for Nickelodeon’s Hollywood Arts as a member of the skeleton crew for the whole season, a recurring on-screen dancer, and graciously stepped in to be the Assistant Choreographer for a couple of episodes.

Presently, Josh shares his passion for dance by teaching at Studio North and continually trains under many teachers in the community. Josh also has the privilege of representing Canada on the global stage through his involvement with the renowned hip-hop crews Brotherhood (directed by Scott Forsyth) and Northside (directed by Adrian Vendiola and Kelvin Tu). Josh takes great pride in all aspects of his work and his infectious good energy comes through in every room he finds himself in.
