Argel Monte de Ramos

Argel Monte de Ramos is an award-winning Filipino-Canadian artist based in Surrey, BC, working across theatre and music as a performer, playwright, and songwriter. With a passion for inclusion, mental health, and representation, Argel creates work that reflects his lived experience as an immigrant and multidisciplinary creative. He holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts and an Advanced Diploma in Musical Theatre from Capilano University.

Argel’s work has earned him several accolades. In 2021, he received the Excellence Award by a BIPOC Artist at the Fraser Valley Music Awards and was nominated for Pop Artist of the Year. He also received the Surrey Board of Trade’s Arts and Business Award for his contributions to music, volunteerism, and community advocacy. His original single Sail Away was featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Philippines, earning him recognition as a rising voice in Canadian music.

In theatre, Argel has performed with companies like the Arts Club, Align Entertainment, and Metro Theatre. He earned an Ovation Award for Outstanding Performance for his role in Elf! The Musical and will soon star as Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  Through his artistry, Argel continues to uplift voices and inspire meaningful connection.
