Nico Solarte

ACTRA | CAEA

Nico Solarte (they/them) is a Colombian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist, integrated mindfulness guide, and creative producer with a passion for storytelling and the expansion of consciousness through the art of creation.

Nico began their musical training at the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Colombia at age eight, studying theory and classical piano before pursuing further training in acting and vocal performance.

After immigrating to Canada and graduating from the Honours Bachelor of Musical Theatre Performance program at Sheridan College, Nico shifted their focus to immerse themselves in passions such as writing, composition, branding, and commercial dance training. These endeavours were enriched by extended travels throughout Asia, Australia, and their native Colombia before returning to Canada in 2019.

In 2021, seeking to bridge gaps within their own creative practice, Nico founded Existt SoulCare, a QBIPOC artist-led wellness collective dedicated to bringing a conscious approach to personal wellness and community connection, fostering higher consciousness through mindfulness, creativity, and play.

Now back in the world of performance, Nico is dedicated to expanding creative boundaries through their dynamic multidisciplinary work and continuing to champion equity and representation across the arts landscape.

Select performance credits include: Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (WCT/Thousand Islands Playhouse), Ché in Evita, Motel in Fiddler on the Roof (Drayton Entertainment), Bobby Dupree in the Australian premiere of Memphis The Musical (StageArt), Willie Lopez in GHOST (Starvox Ent), Centeno in CACAO: A Venezuelan Lament (Victoria Mata Prods/Aluna Theatre), Danzantes del Alba (Teatro Linea de Sombra), and Parade (Lincoln Centre).
