Nova Sommar
Non Union
Nova (pronouns she/her) is a fierce Leo from the east coast who is returning to the scene after being busy raising three of her cubs in the industry. Feeling she has more to offer than ever after years of intense life experience and self discovery, she has new found confidence and is ready to explore new opportunities.
Krista has over 20 years of experience in teaching competitive and recreational dance, and also has experience as a gymnastics, acro and fitness coach. After graduating from the George Brown College Commercial Dance studies program (a triple threat program with an emphasis on dance), Nova spent time working in various capacities: from acting in and choreographing for plays and musicals, to acting in independent films and commercials, to go-go dancing in clubs and music videos. She then moved back to Newfoundland and became co director of a music and dance studio, as well as a community theatre production company. Noted for being innovative and competitive on the St. John’s dance scene, after ten years of business, Nova moved with her family to the GTA. This afforded more performing arts opportunities to her three children who now all attend prestigious private arts schools (Canada’s National Ballet School & National Circus School).
Nova’s competitive nature and drive for success has served her children well as she trained and prepared them for the successful paths they’re now on, and now she’s ready to set and achieve more goals of her own. She’s committed to training and growing as an artist and person. Along with numerous dance credentials, she has obtained gymnastics coaching certification through GNL and has recently been working with private acting coach, Paul Ewan Wilson. She is excited to get back in front of the camera, after enjoying many years behind the camera with the lens focused on her children.
When not busy being a “momager” to her three busy kids, Nova loves cooking, grooving to music (Beyoncé, Miley and Cardi B being a few faves), and hitting the gym. A natural athlete, she is enjoying setting and reaching fitness/body building goals, which is a great outlet for her personal drive and competitiveness. Nova believes one of the best things about life is that we can always reinvent, rediscover and evolve ourselves, and that there’s beauty in that process. And while she’s not afraid to change and she’s been through different versions of herself, one thing that always remains is her authenticity.
Nova’s so thankful for her family’s support as she transitions back from “momager” to artist. She’s having a blast having her kids give her back all the tips and reminders she’s been giving them, as she enters their auditioning shoes!
