Sydney Sudmals

Sydney Sudmals is a passionate and ambitious performer from Toronto, Ontario. Her love for dance and performing began at the age of four, and that passion has only continued to grow.

Sydney trained as a versatile competitive dancer for 13 years in a wide range of styles, including jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, acro, hip-hop, musical theatre, pointe, and modern. Her appreciation for all aspects of performance deepened during her high school years when she had the opportunity to participate in the Stratford Festival Musical Theatre Intensive. In this program, Sydney trained with industry professionals including Stephen Cota, Eric Charbonneau, and Jason Sermonia in dance, singing, playwriting and acting.

Sydney attended Claude Watson School for the Arts, where she completed a dance major and a drama minor. She is also a proud alumni of the Musical Theatre Performance program at St. Lawrence College. During her time at St. Lawrence College, she performed in Cats (Dance Captain, Mistoffelees), directed by Christy Adamson; Going Under (Dylan), directed by David Connolly, and Pippin (Dance Captain, Ensemble), directed by Julie Tomaino. She also participated in several workshops, including a voice-over workshop with Jay T. Schramek, a fight and intimacy workshop with Siobhan Richardson, and Cats makeup training with Dawn Rivard.

As a dancer, Sydney has performed and trained in cities around the world, including Paris and Barcelona, as part of the Paris and Barcelona Dance Tour. She has had the opportunity to perform works by many choreographers, including Anisa Tejpar, Jacques Monfiston, George Absi, Lisa Auguste, and David Norsworthy, among others. Throughout her competitive dance career, she received numerous awards, including Dancer of the Year, Most Improved, Most Potential, and multiple scholarships.

Recently, Sydney worked with Royal Caribbean Entertainment as a dancer/vocalist, spent two seasons at Diamond Tooth Gertie’s in Dawson City, Yukon, as Dance Captain/ Swing, and spends her days training and taking workshops in Toronto and beyond! She is always seeking new opportunities to expand and hone her craft while pushing beyond her comfort zones. She is excited to continue to work hard, dream big, and achieve her goals.
