Non Union

Ana Persijn Alarcon (she/her) was born in Holguin, Cuba and she has been a part of the arts ever since she can remember! As a young child, Ana was involved in gymnastics, ballet and the children’s drama group, A Las Buenas, in Holguin. She was also one of few who went on to study piano at the prestigious Escuela Vocacional de Arte in Holguin at the age of 7.

Growing up in Canada, Ana began to discover her love for musical theatre, opera and acting. She completed an undergraduate degree with Honors in Voice Performance from the University of Western Ontario in 2019. Ana had the pleasure of joining the studio of mezzo-soprano Patricia Green and to learn under the direction of Theodore Berg with the UWO Opera Workshop. Ana was also involved in various choral ensembles, opera workshops and musicals with some notable works including The Magic Flute and Catch Me If You Can.

Recently, Ana made her professional musical theatre debut with Drayton Entertainment in their production of The Sound of Music. Other notable credits include Gwendolen Fairfax in Earnest, The Importance of Being with SOLT and the original play Hopscotch where she had the pleasure of bringing the characters of Ismene and Seherazad to life. In 2019, she made her first live concert debut at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts with the Toronto Operetta Theatre in Viva la Zarzuela.Ana was especially excited to perform this music as they were all works by Spanish composers and in Spanish!

Aside from fluently speaking Spanish, Ana also speaks fluent French which she learned growing up in Canada. She continues to develop her dancing, singing and acting skills by continuously working on her craft with various teachers.

During her down time, Ana teaches singing and piano privately and hopes to instill in her students the same joy she has for music. Ana likes to spend her free time sewing, baking, listening to music, hanging out with friends and family and with her cat Kika. The support of her loved ones and her passion for the arts is what continues to propel Ana to perform and grow as an emerging artist.
