Taylor Long

Non Union

Taylor Long (he/him) was born and raised in Halifax, NS. He had a unique upbringing — born missing his fibula bone in both legs which led to both of his feet being amputated before he was two years old. Taylor learned to walk, run, dance, and ride horses on two below-the-knee prosthetics, also known as his “fancy legs”. Before discovering a passion for acting, Taylor was a competitive horseback rider, studying dressage and show-jumping for nearly 10 years and competing internationally.

He discovered his love for singing and acting at Neptune Theatre’s youth company, performing Marius in their production of Les Misérables. After high school, Taylor studied opera at Dalhousie University with Marcia Swanston and Lucy Hayes-Davis. He performed in a variety of shows on the east coast including The Last Five Years, The Sound of Music, Bare: A Pop Opera, Little Women, Sweeney Todd, and Rent.

Taylor took a short break from acting when he moved to Toronto in 2017, working as a theatre critic and building up a successful photography and videography business. He’s been lucky to have fellow amputee and director/choreographer David Connolly as a friend and role model, and the pair created and performed in an annual fundraiser cabaret titled Both, from 2017-2019. In television and film, Taylor has appeared in Jay Dahl’s Halloween Party, on the hit Canadian comedy, Mr. D, and he was the subject of a documentary for Shriners’ Hospitals for Children titled Heroes Among Us. Taylor is thrilled to be getting back in front of the camera, and is grateful to be part of the da Costa family
