UBCP/ACTRA
Russell Lee is a Canadian actor based in Vancouver, British Columbia, known for his grounded presence, magnetic charm on screen, physical versatility, and strong on-screen instincts. Born and raised in Penticton, British Columbia, Russell began his performance career through movement, developing a deep understanding of physical storytelling that now informs his work as an actor. He most recently stepped into a lead role in the CBC feature film Whatcha Want, directed by Mina Shum, marking a major milestone in his acting career. His screen credits also include a recurring role in Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies (Paramount+), Maid (Netflix), and A Lot Like Christmas (Great American Family). He has trained with respected acting coaches Andrew McIlroy, Gina Chiarelli, and Deb Podowski, continuing to refine his craft with a focus on truthful, character-driven performances.
Russell’s extensive experience in front of the camera—ranging from scripted television to high-level movement work on productions Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (NBC), Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas (Roku), Descendants 2 and 3 (Disney), and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Paramount)—has given him a strong technical awareness on set and a natural ease within the frame. A lifelong student of movement, he specializes in breakdancing, freestyle battling, parkour, tricking, and stunt performance. His ability to blend explosive athleticism, dynamic movement, musicality, and character-driven physicality gives him a distinctive presence both on stage and on screen, allowing him to excel in action-driven, movement-based, and emotionally grounded roles alike.
Beyond performing, Russell is also an accomplished filmmaker and cinematographer. As Director of Photography on the short film Costly, he attended the Los Angeles premiere at the Sam Newton Film Festival, and is consistently creating on set and on social media. His experience behind the camera has given him a deeper understanding of visual storytelling, composition, and the collaborative filmmaking process, strengthening his ability to communicate with directors and crew while remaining highly aware of framing, camera movement, continuity, and how performance translates on screen.
With a compelling mix of charisma, athleticism, technical expertise, and emotional range, Russell is emerging as a dynamic talent in film and television.
