Maika Quashie

Maika Quashie (she/her) was born in Langley, British Columbia, Canada and is mixed Caribbean and European descent. Her passion for performing came at an early age. She started her journey of dance with ballet at a local recreational centre and since has expanded her training to Fusion Force Studio excelling in lyrical, contemporary, jazz, ballet, pointe and hip hop. She has grown into a strong, powerful and compelling dancer that is known for her captivating emotion on stage with impeccable passion and mesmerizing height in jumps. Maika has countless awards, scholarships, high scores, and designations as a competitive dancer in groups, solos and duos.

Along with dance, Maika started taking an interest in acting and signed up for school plays, choir and talent shows in school whenever she could. She started her acting training with LeBlanc School of Acting and Tricities Acting Studio as a preteen and consistently trains into her teen years. Her performance vocabulary includes acting techniques like On-Camera Technique, Table Read & Scene Breakdown, Movement & Improv for On Camera Acting, Script Analysis, VoiceOver, and Standard American Dialect, just to name a few.

Maika recorded one of her first self tapes with Lisa Durupt from Tricities Acting Studio and got her first break in a biopic movie of the week as young Wendy Williams. Maika’s portrayal landed her nominations and wins from Young Artists Academy, the Joey Awards and Nova Star Awards. She has since booked commercials with Bounty and Ingrezza.

Her hard work ethic and drive also shows through in her academics and leadership at school. She is involved in a leadership program where she is the youngest peer tutor in her high school. In her spare time, Maika loves to travel, hang out with friends and spend time with her family and her fur-brother chihuahua.
