Xaria Sookdeo

Xaria Sookdeo (she/her) is passionate for her love of the arts. Born in Hamilton, raised in Guelph, Ontario, she walked into her first dance class at the age of two, and has never stopped. She is a dedicated competitive dancer at Performance Dance Academy, and her hard work, dedication, and love of dance have earned her numerous scholarships and Judges’ Awards. Always eager to challenge herself and expand her training, Xaria has also participated in classes at Toronto’s Underground Dance Centre and the Alvin Ailey School of Dance in New York City. Xaria has had the opportunity to perform in shows including Toronto Rhythm Initiative and Fever at Dusk, and was selected as the Face of Fever for 2027.

For Xaria, being a person of colour means carrying a responsibility to the art form and representing Indian dancers with pride. She takes her role as a mentor very seriously and her hopes are that no young dancer of colour will ever feel that they do not have equal opportunities in the dance world.

Xaria has a love for fashion and travel – Italy and New York are among her favourite places. She has also captained her school’s field hockey team and trained at a tennis academy in Guelph.

Xaria brings energy, curiosity, and individuality to everything she does. Whether she is dancing on stage, competing on the field or court, exploring a new city, or dreaming up her next adventure, Xaria is always ready for the next challenge and another opportunity to grow.
