Julian Hunt

Non-Union

Originally from Terrace, B.C, Julian Hunt discovered his passion for dance at 16. In 2020, he moved to Vancouver to train at Modus Operandi, a rigorous four-year contemporary dance program directed by Tiffany Tregarthen, David Raymond, and Kate Franklin.

During his time at Modus Operandi, Julian honed his craft through the work of leading choreographers including Crystal Pite, Out Innerspace Dance Theatre, Jillian Meyers, Joshua Beamish, Gilbert T Small II, Yin Yue, Ella Rothschild and Jermaine Spivey—deepening both his technical foundation and artistic voice.

Since graduating, he has performed in Joshua Beamish/MOVETHECOMPANY’s Salt, Marcato, and Endless Summer; danced a duet from Dance//Novella’s creation for Ballet BC 44; competed at Vibe Dance Competition in Los Angeles with award-winning hip-hop team Northside; and toured with Out Innerspace Dance Theatre for the Canadian and European premieres of Rhino.

In 2023, Julian joined Crystal Pite’s Kidd Pivot as a swing/performer, touring internationally with the company’s final production of Revisor and its newest work, Assembly Hall.

A Swiss Army knife of dance, Julian brings a multifaceted skill set to every performance, moving fluidly across styles, forms, and creative contexts.

Beyond the stage, Julian is cultivating a growing presence in film and television. With training from Deb Podowski and Jonathon Young, he is drawn to the screen’s distinct storytelling potential and is excited to continue expanding this area of his creative practice.
