Sam Jeffery

Sam Jeffery (she/her) is an award-winning intimacy coordinator, intimacy director, fight director, and actor. Born and raised in amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton) on Treaty 6 territory, she’s now grateful to call the coast home.
A graduate of the University of Alberta’s BFA Acting program, Sam is also co-AD of StoneMarrow Theatre and teaches at Vancouver Film School. Working as an intimacy professional since 2017, she is a certified IC and ID with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC).
In live theatre, her fight and intimacy direction has been performed at many stages across western Canada including Arts Club, Bard on the Beach, and Western Canada Theatre. Recently, Sam was the recipient of the 2024/2025 Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award for Outstanding Fight Direction and Intimacy Direction in recognition of her work on “Brick Shithouse”(Fenceless Theatre/Common Ground Arts). Sam was also the recipient of the 2019 Nordic and Cloutier Family Innovation Award in support of her advancement in the field of Intimacy Direction.
With a special interest in mental and sexual health, Sam has volunteered on crisis lines, co-created productions about addiction and trauma, curated and hosted sex-positive performance events such as the Smut Cabaret, and co-created award-winning films that have toured North America as part of the Hump Festival.
Sam is passionate about bringing joy, collaboration, and a trauma-informed approach to every project.
